In an effort to give back to the local Ithaca community and share our love for education, Phi Beta Kappa members participate in various philanthropic events over the course of the year. Our past events have included:
- Volunteering in Tompkins County Public Library's 5th annual out loud reading challenge to raise funds for the library (where participants read out loud for 30 minutes each for 24 hours straight).
- Planting bulbs and perennials in the Tompkins County Public Library's garden.
- Helping to manage Wizarding Weekend at the public library
- Reading to children as part of the The Reader Is In Program at the Tompkins County Public Library
- Serving meals at Ithaca's Loaves & Fishes, a center which provides free meals, hospitality, and advocacy for those in need
